Q: What is Discovery Mode?
A: Discovery Mode at /discover is a personalized listing feed built for each user based on their activity, species interests, follows, and browsing behavior. It refreshes monthly and helps you find artists you might not have searched for directly.
Q: How do I search for listings?
A: Use the search bar in the Masthead. You can search listings, stores, and species. Filter by species, price, type, and tags. Sort by relevance, newest, price, or popularity.
Q: Do I need to be logged in to search?
A: No. Search is public and accessible without an account.
Q: How does the Discovery feed get personalized?
A: The discovery engine builds your feed based on signals from your activity: species you engage with, price ranges you browse, accounts you follow, and other interactions.
Q: Can I filter the Discovery feed?
A: Yes. There’s a filter sidebar (or mobile bottom sheet) to narrow discovery results by species and other criteria.
Q: How do I search for a specific artist?
A: You can search for stores and users by name from the Masthead search bar. You can also browse the User Directory at /directory to search by username or display name.
Q: How often does the Discovery feed refresh?
A: The discovery engine refreshes feeds monthly via an automated cron job. Your feed may also update based on your own activity.
Q: Can I “like” or “skip” listings in Discovery Mode?
A: Yes. Interacting with listings in Discovery Mode — liking or skipping — sends signals back to the discovery engine to tune your future feed.
Q: Why am I seeing listings in my Discovery feed that aren’t relevant to me?
A: The feed is built on your activity history. If your account is new or you haven’t engaged much yet, the engine has fewer signals to work with. The more you interact, the more accurate your feed becomes over time.
Q: Can I search for artists by style?
A: Style searching is best done through the search bar using keywords combined with species tags and content type filters. Browsing your personalized Discovery feed is also a good way to surface artists matching your interests.
Q: Does search include NSFW listings?
A: Search respects your NSFW settings. If you haven’t enabled adult content, NSFW listings won’t appear in your search results or discovery feed.
Q: Can I search for a listing by its ID?
A: Listings can be accessed directly by their slug or by their ID in the listing URL. The search bar is best for finding listings by keyword.
Q: What is the “most sold” sort option in search?
A: The most sold sort surfaces listings from artists with the highest completed order count — useful for finding established artists with a strong track record.
Q: Can I save or bookmark listings I’m interested in?
A: A wishlist or bookmark feature is in the platform’s planned roadmap. Contact support@fursonasfactory.com if you’d like to express interest.
Q: How do species tags affect search results?
A: Tagging your listings accurately with species from the Species Registry makes them more discoverable to buyers filtering by those species.
Q: Is there an advanced search with multiple filters?
A: The search interface supports multiple simultaneous filters — species, price range, content type, and tags can all be combined. Use the filter sidebar alongside the search bar for the most targeted results.
Q: Can I search for open bounties?
A: The Bounty Board at /bounties is browsable by artists. Filtering and searching bounties is available through the bounty board interface.
Q: Does the discovery engine show NSFW listings to users who have adult content enabled?
A: Yes. If you’ve enabled adult content viewing, NSFW listings are included in your personalized Discovery feed alongside SFW content.
Q: How does following someone affect my Discovery feed?
A: Following an artist is a signal to the discovery engine that you’re interested in their work. Their listings and style influences what the engine surfaces in your feed.
Q: Can I clear or reset my Discovery feed preferences?
A: Resetting your discovery signal history isn’t currently a self-serve feature. Contact support@fursonasfactory.com if you want to discuss your discovery personalization.
Q: How does the platform know what species I’m interested in?
A: The discovery engine infers interest from your activity — listings you like, listings you engage with, artists you follow, and search queries you run. The more you interact, the more the engine learns.
Q: Does logging out affect my Discovery feed personalization?
A: Discovery personalization is tied to your logged-in account. Browsing while logged out gives you a generic non-personalized view. Log in to get your personalized feed.
Q: Can I see what listings are currently trending on the platform?
A: The Discovery Mode feed includes trending and popular listings alongside your personalized picks. Search results can also be sorted by popularity. A dedicated trending page may be added in future updates.
Q: What does the “relevance” sort mean in search?
A: Relevance sort uses a weighted combination of search query match, listing completeness, artist rating, recency, and other signals to return the most useful results for your query. It’s the default sort for a reason.
Q: Can I exclude certain species from my Discovery feed?
A: A species exclusion or block list for discovery isn’t currently a self-serve feature. Contact support@fursonasfactory.com if you have a specific request.
Q: How does the platform decide which listing is shown first in a search result?
A: Relevance sort considers keyword match strength, listing completeness, artist rating, engagement signals, and recency. Price and popularity sorts override relevance. Staff do not manually manipulate search rankings.
Q: Does search return results from paused or archived listings?
A: No. Only Active listings appear in search results and discovery feeds. Paused and Archived listings are excluded.
Q: Is there a way to search specifically for artists who are currently accepting commissions?
A: You can filter search results by availability. Artists with open commission slots will be marked as accepting commissions in their search result cards.
Q: How long does it take for a new listing to appear in search after I publish it?
A: New Active listings should appear in search results quickly — typically within minutes. If your listing isn’t showing up after a reasonable period, check that it’s in Active status and contact support@fursonasfactory.com if the issue persists.
