Q: What is the User Directory?
A: The User Directory at /directory is a public, searchable catalog of all FursonasFactory members. Filter by role or account type, sort by various criteria, filter by online status or rating, and search by username or display name.
Q: Can I see who is online?
A: Yes. The directory shows online/offline status based on last activity. A user is considered online if they were active within the last 5 minutes.
Q: Is the User Directory public?
A: Yes, it’s publicly accessible — no account required to browse it.
Q: How do I show my badges in the directory?
A: Pin up to 3 badges from your profile settings. Your pinned badges display on your directory card.
Q: What do the different card colors mean in the directory?
A: Card accent colors indicate user roles — red for Admins, amber for Moderators, violet for Community Managers, cyan for Artists, green for Artist+Buyer accounts, and neutral for Buyers.
Q: Can I opt out of appearing in the User Directory?
A: The directory is a public community feature. Contact support@fursonasfactory.com if you have specific privacy concerns about your directory listing.
Q: What information appears on my directory card?
A: Your username, display name, avatar, account type, role, online status, rating (for artists), any pinned badges, and join date are typically visible on directory cards.
Q: How do I filter the directory by account type?
A: The directory has seven tabs that filter users by role and account type. Select the tab matching what you’re looking for.
Q: Can I search by rating in the directory?
A: Yes. The directory supports filtering by rating, which is useful for finding highly-rated artists quickly.
Q: Does my online status update automatically?
A: Yes. Your last activity timestamp is updated automatically when you’re authenticated and active on the platform. Online status reflects whether you’ve been active within the last 5 minutes.
Q: Can I see when someone last visited the platform in the directory?
A: The directory shows whether someone is currently online (active within 5 minutes) or offline. Exact last-seen timestamps may not be shown publicly to respect some degree of privacy.
Q: Is there a way to follow users from the directory?
A: Following is available from user profiles. You can navigate from a directory card to a user’s profile to follow them.
Q: Does the directory show suspended or banned users?
A: Suspended and terminated accounts are removed from active platform participation and would not appear in the directory in a meaningful way.
Q: How many users can I see at once in the directory?
A: The directory loads 24 users at a time with a “load more” option to see additional results.
Q: Can I sort the directory by most recent join date?
A: The directory has multiple sort options. Check the sort controls in the directory interface for all available sorting criteria.
Q: Why does my online status show offline even when I’m on the platform?
A: Online status is updated when you make authenticated requests to the platform. If you’re on a page that isn’t making active requests, your status may show as offline even if the page is open. Navigating around the platform updates your status.
Q: Can I see an artist’s commission availability in the directory?
A: Artist directory cards show key profile information. For commission slot availability, visit the artist’s store page directly.
Q: Does the directory include staff members?
A: Yes. Staff members appear in the directory with their role-colored card accents, making them easily identifiable.
Q: Can I find users by their store handle rather than their username?
A: The directory searches by username and display name. To find someone by their store handle, go directly to /stores/:handle or use the stores browse page.
Q: What is the “load more” pagination?
A: The directory loads 24 users per page. Clicking “load more” fetches the next 24. You can continue loading until all matching users have been displayed.
Q: Can I see all artists currently accepting commissions in the directory?
A: Yes. Filter the directory by Artists or Both account types. Artist cards indicate commission slot availability. This lets you quickly identify who’s open for work.
Q: What does “sort by rating” show for Buyer-type accounts?
A: Rating is an artist metric. Buyer cards don’t have a rating in the same sense — sorting by rating in the directory surfaces the most highly-rated accounts, which in practice means Artists and Both accounts with completed order reviews.
Q: Can I search the directory by bio keywords?
A: The directory search currently searches username and display name. Bio keyword search is not currently supported but may be added in future updates.
Q: Does the directory paginate infinitely or stop at some point?
A: “Load more” pagination fetches additional users until all matching users have been loaded. The directory shows all users matching your current filters — there’s no arbitrary stopping point.
Q: Are deactivated accounts removed from the directory immediately?
A: Yes. Account suspension and termination remove the account from the public directory immediately.
Q: Can I filter the directory by join date?
A: Sort options include join date. Filtering to only show users who joined within a specific date range is not currently a feature.
Q: What does the “neutral” card color mean for a Buyer?
A: Neutral/default card styling applies to Buyer-only accounts. It’s not a negative indicator — it simply means the account doesn’t have the colored role or account-type designation of Artists, Both accounts, or Staff.
Q: Can I see how many total users are on FursonasFactory from the directory?
A: The directory doesn’t currently display a total user count. This data may be made available through platform announcements or a public stats page in future updates.
Q: Can I save a directory search or filter configuration for later?
A: Saved directory search configurations are not currently a feature. Your filter state persists during a browsing session but won’t be saved between sessions.
Q: What is the “Both” account type tab in the directory?
A: The Both tab shows users who have both Artist and Buyer account access — they can create listings and place orders. These users have cyan-green card accents distinguishing them from pure Artists (cyan) and pure Buyers (neutral).
